The Haus of OH studio - coming 2025!
A chance meeting in 2015 set in motion a story that would grow far beyond its humble beginnings. Oscar and Mateo's paths crossed, sparking a connection that would transform not only their own lives but the lives of countless others in their communities and families. Their friendship deepened into romance in 2019, and as the world faced unprecedented challenges in 2020, they discovered their shared passion for creative collaboration. In 2024, they celebrated their marriage and officially established The Haus of OH—a testament to their belief in the power of chosen family and inclusive community.
At the heart of The Haus of OH beats seven core values that guide everything we do: creativity, compassion, candor, culture, community, curiosity, and courage. Our purple crest, proudly displayed in our work, weaves together the noble traditions of our indigenous cultures with the vibrant spirit of the queer ballroom scene. It stands as more than just a symbol; it represents our dedication to healing generational hurts and our commitment to building a future where the youth of our families and communities can feel grounded, safe, and supported.
Both Oscar and Mateo carry stories of resilience, restoration, and redemption. Their individual journeys through life's hurts and personal hang-ups have taught them the extraordinary healing potential that lies in genuine human connection. Oscar brings his gift for movement, dance and expression, having worked as an international professional choreographer and performer while dedicating himself to youth development through dance and performing arts programs since 2000. Mateo's path led him through Division 1A collegiate coaching and a long-standing career in social work, where he has spent nearly three decades immersed in community work, youth programs, and behavioral health since 1995.
Together, they've discovered that their complementary experiences and shared vision create something greater than the sum of its parts. By combining their love for community building with the transformative power of the arts, Oscar and Mateo are working to foster positive change that radiates outward—touching their families, uplifting their neighbors, and reaching beyond to create lasting impact in the broader community.
The Haus of OH isn't just an organization—it's a movement, a family, and a community. It's a promise to create spaces where authenticity and culture are celebrated, where healing is possible, and where every person's story matters. Through their work, Oscar and Mateo are weaving together threads of art, community, and healing to create a tapestry of positive change that will endure for generations to come.
